Marvel Studios released the official trailer for Avengers: Endgame on 14 March 2019. It followed the first trailer of 7 December 2018. Anthony and Joe Russo direct. Robert Downey Jr. leads as Tony Stark, and his voice opens the cut. Brie Larson appears as Carol Danvers. The film opened in UK cinemas on 25 April 2019.
First Impressions
This is mournful marketing. It plays like a memorial before it becomes a call to arms. The editors let quiet moments sit. That restraint suits a sequel built on loss. It also leans hard on goodwill banked over earlier Marvel films.
What the Trailer Reveals
Tony's voiceover recalls escaping the cave, becoming Iron Man and realising he loved Pepper. Footage from earlier films follows. Peggy Carter's line, "The world has changed. None of us can go back," plays over images of survivors. Clint teaches his daughter archery before we see him as a mohawked Ronin in Japan. Thor says, "I saw all these people die." Steve tells Natasha that some people move on, "but not us." Scott Lang stands outside an overgrown house, staring at missing posters. The team then walks through a hangar in matching new suits, Nebula among them. Finally, Thor summons Stormbreaker past Carol Danvers. "I like this one," he says.
Music and Sound
Alan Silvestri's Avengers theme carries the cut. Its closing notes stretch into something closer to a lament. A wordless choir builds as the Avengers logo reassembles. The repeated vow of "whatever it takes" works like a rhythm line, passed from Steve to Clint, Natasha and Tony.
Most Memorable Moment
The best shot is the simplest. Thor holds out his hand, Stormbreaker flies in, and Carol Danvers lets it pass her head without flinching. Her smirk does more character work than much of the footage. It is also the only light moment in the cut.
Trailer Verdict
It is sharper than the December teaser because it shows the team regrouping and gives the gloom somewhere to go. The archive footage is a crutch, and newcomers get little to hold. For long-term viewers, it did the job well.
